Bates Nut Farm

Last weekend we went down to Escondido for Connor's baby blessing (sorry, no pictures of that) and took the opportunity to go to Bates Nut Farm, which is a Halloween themed farm in Valley Center that my family has been going to for years for school field trips.

Fall Corn

We both love corn on the cob. One of the reasons I was so sad to leave Utah was because we wouldn't be around for the fall time with the fruit stands on every corner selling delicious melons, peaches, and corn on the cob. Luckily we have had pretty good luck at the local farmers market here. Our little Ty has even fallen in love. I just hand him the corn on the cob and he goes to town. Not a kernel left untouched.

After dinner we were busy cleaning up and stopped to find that Ty had raided the trash can and was holding all three corn cobs and gnawing on them. The man loves his corn.

The Rose Bowl

Last weekend my work had another summer team building outing. This time it was tickets to the UCLA-Texas football game at the Rose Bowl. SWEET! I've always wanted to go the the Rose Bowl and see what it was all about. We had great seats (Row 14) and Ty had a good time, which we all appreciated.

It was a great game, then I went home and watched BYU lay an egg against Utah...(expletive!)

Camping with the Plumbs

We went camping a few weekends ago with my buddy from work and fellow BYU alum, Riley, and his wife Kristen. We went out to Casper's Wilderness Park near San Juan Capistrano. It was nice to get out camping and give Ty that experience that he hasn't had yet. He loved every minute of it.

We went on a hike around the park and saw some cool stuff near where we camped.

Ty got pretty exhausted on our way back. Not sure why he always falls asleep in this backpack.

Ty kept trying to poke Julia in the eye. He needs to work on his manners with the ladies.

Welcome Connor

So a little over a year ago, Ty met his cousin Liam for the first time and this was the best we could get out of that meeting.

So when Connor was born and we took Ty up to see him we hoped to get something better. Turns out it's not easy to get kids this age to act interested in each other. At least we got the picture though right? Welcome to the family anyway cousin Connor.

Mormon Night

We went down last weekend to go to Mormon Night at the Padres. That night they were honoring the Mormon Helping Hands service group for it's work in the San Diego area. We all went out on the field before the game and then the Mormon Batallion reenactors brought out the flag and a church choir from the area stakes sang the national anthem. It was a cool thing to see. It wasn't bad to see a Padres game either :)

Ty's Birthday

Ty turned 1 a few weeks ago which is kind of crazy to think about. Our little man is walking/running everywhere he goes now and is tall enough to grab things off the kitchen counters (i.e knives, towels, baked goods, etc.). He isn't talking yet, but can imitate a doggie, a cow and once did a pretty good kitten after petting one, but hasn't done it since. He's absolutely nuts and we find that wrestling him to the ground is one of the only ways to keep him fully entertained. He also is obsessed with books, especially flip books that have doggies in them. So, yup that's a pretty good summary of all things Ty. Now for the pictures.

I've decided I don't like blogging. Why? I don't really know. Probably because I hate writing. But here it goes anyways...

These past few weeks have kept us pretty busy. We went to Las Vegas for Gage's baby blessing a few weeks back. It was a quick trip, as I think we were only there for maybe 36 hours, but well worth it. Then Brandon has his birthday. We met Brandon at work and had lunch, went to the beach that evening, and then went to Lucille's BBQ for dinner! Then we had our anniversary. We celebrated it on the weekend by going to Newport beach and eating dinner at Javier's, which is a mexican restaurant right next to the water. It was awesome!

This past week we took Ty on his first trip to Disneyland. He was such a good little guy the entire time. He hated the rides though. They were too dark for him. He would crawl all over me the entire time. Poor kid. But he did get to meet Mickey and Goofy. He loved meeting the characters and would stare and then giggle.

Finally, Trevor, Sarah, and the boys can for a quick visit this week. We went to the beach a few times and they all loved it. Ty loved having his cousins around to play with. He was so content (no whining!! Yeah). I wish they were closer so Ty could have some play buddies!

He's been capable of doing this for a little while, but never gets more than a few feet without cautiously sitting down or grabbing on to something. We found out recently that if we dangle a carrot, so to speak, in front of him (in this case a very enticing camera) he'll walk as far as he has to to get it.

Yesterday I was washing bottles, enjoying the fact that Ty wasn't at my feet whining the entire time until I was finished. When I was almost done, I thought to myself.... Ty is really quiet. Whenever I can't hear Ty, I know he's doing something he shouldn't. So I stopped washing bottles and found this:

I laughed. Hey, this is better than where I found him a few days ago. We went to Vegas for Gage's baby blessing this past weekend. While I was there I heard a splash and took off running to the bathroom. There I found Ty eating toilet paper (with a little poop on it) from the toilet. Yup. Fantastic. I think I can blame that one on a little boy who's name starts with a T and ends in a rent. Ha. Boys, Boys, Boys!!!!

We made a recent discovery that we have an amazing pool right next to our house. We pass the pool all the time, but have never put much thought into going. Last week we decided to see if our key allowed us to use the pool, tennis courts, and workout room... it did! So today after Brandon got off work we headed to the pool. It's heated year around and was an amazing temperature and we were the only ones in the pool!! Ty LOVED it and splashed the entire time. I think we'll be going a lot more often!

Some thoughts before I go to bed.....

Being a mom is really hard..... I know so many people who have such calm and what I would call "easy" babies. Not me. I wouldn't trade Ty for anything (so grateful for him), but if he's this bad at 8 months, what do I expect at 2 years????........ I'm very scared!

I miss Utah sometimes.......

I miss my old job! I like what I did. I loved the people I worked with. I loved the patients I took care of. (sigh) I'm Sad.

Ty has a cold right now, which means my clothes have suffered greatly. I think I've changed as much as he has.

I really want to be a "couponer." I see these people who only pay like $10 a month for groceries. I want to be that person. I look at all these blogs and read up on how to do it, but in the end I just don't get it. Is it just me??

California is so expensive!! Is it possible to save money when you live in California??

Why is gas $3.77?? I remember when it reached $3.00/gallon and people were freaking out. We're all in trouble.

Curly hair and California don't mix. I've looked terrible ever since I've moved here. What's a girl supposed to do?

Nothing New...

Nothing is new at the McBeth house. Brandon works long hours and I stay home taking care of little Ty. Within the last month or so Ty's really taken off with his crawling, standing, climbing stairs, getting into everything, etc. I don't know how he does it but he'll be in one spot and I turn my head and he's no where to be found. He keeps me on my toes!! Things can get a little repetitive around here.... but we come up with whatever we can to keep ourselves... okay Ty, entertained. See picture below....

Since the move to California, Ty has been extra needy and clingy. He's cried, screamed, and whined a lot more. Part of that may be to the fact that he now has 7 teeth, but I think most of it is due to all the change. Brandon is no longer the stay at home dad. He's off to work and I get to be mommy, for now! At times it's frustrating, but then I look at that cute face and it makes it all worth it!!!

We never thought we would say we missed living in Utah. But, we adapted. We became comfortable. We loved the summer & fall. So to our surprise, as the time approached when we knew we were going to be leaving, we wondered if we wanted to really leave. On our way to California I enjoyed seeing the COLD winter snow disappear each mile I drove further south. The past two Saturdays I've been to the beach and today I enjoyed a wonderful Sunday walk with my husband and adorable baby boy. I no longer need a jacket during the day and flip flops are an everyday occurrence. So do I miss Utah? Um..... no. I don't think so. Ask me again come August.

So it's been a while since we put up anything and we're moving soon (I got a job in Anaheim) so we likely aren't going to be posting anything soon until we get all settled in to the new housing we don't have yet. This is an attempt to catch up on what we've been up to.

Halloween party for Melanie's family up in Weston, ID. We were supposed to be Paleontologists and Ty was a dinosaur. In the end we just looked like Steve Irwin and his safari lady sidekick.

Tonya was off doing woman things with her friends so we all enjoyed the game from the folding chairs above the nosebleed section.

The Jazz beat the Magic. I'm really looking forward to living near to L.A so that I can take Ty to see the best team in the NBA play at home. Go Clippers!

Every year I guess the fine people in Weston, ID take all of their left over pumpkins and pile them up in this guys field and blow it up. The pumpkin pile was the size of a Volkswagon. It was awesome.

We took a walk down Provo river the other day because snow was supposed to be coming and it was going to be the last time we would enjoy going outside for the foreseeable future. The colors were all in full swing still. This is my favorite picture of the season so far. I noticed the other day that I can count on one hand the number of pictures that I have of just me and Ty. I guess that's what you get when you are always behind the camera.

For the last three years we have gone to Gardner Village in South Jordan with Ben and Wendy sometime around Halloween time. This was the first year we did it with Ty so that was pretty fun. Today we wanted to get out of the house and do something outdoors since we've been having such awesome weather recently. So we drove up Provo Canyon and up into the Alpine Loop which is a scenic drive that takes you through some very secluded areas of the mountains that are full of Quaking Aspen and some really green country. It was pretty awesome. We ended up at Cascade Springs which is a natural spring that starts out as mountain glaciers way up top and travels through underground streams until it comes up through the granite at, you guessed it, Cascade Springs. We figured it was a nice place where we could get out of the house and we could take Ty along with us. He had a blast as he always does when we're outdoors. He never blinked it seemed like, he just looked around with his mouth open and eyebrows raised never making a peep. We guess that means he's having a good time. Anyway, on to the pictures.

Update: 3 Months

I can hardly believe how fast the time has gone by. Ty is now 3 months old. Sometimes it feels like Ty has been part of our family forever and the other part remembers the day he was born like it was yesterday. Brandon and I absolutely LOVE this little guy. It's been a blessing(if unemployment can be that) that both Brandon and I have been able to be home with him every single day for the past month and a half. Sadly that ends next week. I'm sure many tears will be shed on my part!!! Can we slow time down???

A quick little update on Ty:

* He is finally sleeping through the night!!!

* He started teething this week, two cute little teeth coming in on his bottom gums

* He loves being outside

* Ty hates his car seat but falls asleep so quickly when driving in the car

Ty's Blessing

Last week we flew down to San Diego to bless our little Ty.... finally. Our first flight with Ty went fairly well, except for a minor crying spell at the end of the flight. We had a great weekend spending time with both our families together. Unfortunately, several of our siblings weren't able to make it due to school restraints and Tyler being on his mission. Nevertheless, Ty's blessing went well and we're grateful to everyone who came. I'm even more grateful that Ty was quiet the entire blessing since he was crying seconds before.

Brandon and I stayed in San Diego until Thursday to hang out. While our flight down wasn't too bad, the flight back to Salt Lake was a different story. We ended up getting to the airport late, with a long security line. Luckily the security lady let us go to the front because our flight was so soon. Once we finally got through security we hear our names being called overhead for the final boarding call. We rushed to the gate. As we sat down in our seats, Brandon starts to feel something wet on his pants and down his leg. Ty's diaper was leaking all over. I quickly changed his diaper and clothes on my lap. He then spits up all over me. He cried for a good portion of the flight. Luckily there was a brand new baby also crying in the seat in front of us.

We took Ty for his 2 month check up a little over a week ago. Both Brandon and I were anxious to know how much he weighed because we knew he was a BIG boy! We were right. He weighed 13lbs 13oz and was 24 1/2 inches long. I just recently started putting him into 3-6 month clothes! At his check up he also got his shots. He loved the rotavirus vaccine and acted as if he wanted more when it was over. But when the nurse gave him his first shot, he let out the loudest high-pitched cry I'd ever heard from him. It was pretty sad.

Ty started smiling a few weeks ago which has been so much fun, but it's a hard task to actually catch his smiles on camera. This one is not so bad. Isn't he adorable!

So when my brother Ryan and his wife Rachel had their first son, Liam, my mom and dad started a pretty cool tradition where they would make a cradle by hand for each family. Ryan and Rachel got theirs when Liam was born (though i've never seen it) and so we were excited to see what ours would look like when we eventually had a kid of our own. Well after Ty was born my parents shipped up our cradle in a box and I couldn't wait to assemble it to see what it looked like. They only asked us a few styling questions as to the type of cradle we wanted and they did everything else themselves so it was a real surprise when we put it together here in Utah. We are both really happy with what they did and are so grateful to them for taking so much time and making a cradle that all of our kids will be able to sleep in.

From what I understand, dad did most of the wood working, sanding and staining (with help from my mom), and my mom custom ordered the mattress and sheets and she hand-made the bumper pads.

So I guess this post is just to thank them for the awesome work they did and let them see the finished product that Ty sleeps in every night. Thanks mom and dad!

7 weeks

I can't believe Ty is already 7 weeks old. Time has gone by so quickly I can hardly believe it. Pretty soon I'll be back to work and missing my little guy more than I can stand! When I look at his birth pictures I can't believe how much he's grown. 2 weeks ago I took Ty in to be weighed and he was 11 lbs 9oz. He's a big and long little guy!

Our little Ty:

*He recently started to smile- cutest thing on Earth!

*Cries after yawning, unless he's in a good mood

*Has a 10 minute stretching routine every time he wakes up- its so funny to watch

*Loves his bath (needs to learn to not pee on his dad and pooping is not allowed in the bath tub!)

*Heard his first cooing-laugh the other day

We are both so happy having Ty in our life and are looking forward to when he sleeps through the night!!

Lake Powell

The first week in July is our Lake Powell week and has been for more than 15 years. I love it. Nothing could make me miss Lake Powell, not even having a baby 2 1/2 weeks earlier. So we went!! This year was definitely different than past years since I wasn't able to get in the water due to having Ty so recently and I had a newborn to take care of. But I didn't see the point in sitting at home, I could do that at Lake Powell too! Most of my time was spent making sure Ty was comfortable and not too hot. He actually did really well and probably had no idea he was at such a beautiful lake. Everyone was able to make it this year except Shane, who had to work. We loved having Jed and Whitney and their kids there as well. Due to the nature of Lake Powell and how gross most of us look, I didn't post many pictures. (You're welcome).

Ty is changing by the day, which is fun to see because he is becoming more alert, which means his eyes are open more often. For the first week almost he was sleeping all day long and not letting us see his eyes too much, but recently he's been watching us more and taking things in as much as he's capable of doing. Most of the time he just looks contemplative, but we've been able to force a couple huge smiles if we stroke his hair at the right time.

I've been thinking for a long time about making our blog private. For those of you who know me well, you know that I'm on the paranoid side. Since the baby is coming soon, it makes me nervous that we write about where we live, birth dates, and other personal information. I don't want some creeper to know our routine, where we live, and everything else about us. As Brandon would say, I've watched one too many Datelines.
Does anyone out there have thoughts about making blogs private??? I'm probably going to be making it private right before the baby is born. As long as I know who you are, I'm cool with you looking at our blog. Please leave your email if you want to continue.... and any thoughts on private blogs are appreciated. I know how annoying it is when I have friends I can't look at their blog because I never made their list. Thanks!

2 Years

Brandon and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary yesterday! Time has flown by. It seems like yesterday we got married. These past two years have been great and we're both excited to see what this next year brings.

These last few weeks have been quite busy for Brandon. First and most importantly, Brandon graduated! Yeah! His family as well as Sarah and my mom came up to be at Brandon's graduation and watch him walk. It was a great weekend. I think Brandon would've enjoyed it more if he was officially done. He is actually taking two classes this spring term, which he only has 5 more weeks left of. Then his is truly done! Congratulations Brandon!!

Then, this past week Brandon had his 25th birthday! We celebrated by going on a walk at Provo River (Brandon can't get enough of being outside) and then going and picking out a golf club that was actually long enough for him. He's pretty excited about his new driver because its tall and we got an amazing deal on it. After we went to Tucanos where we both ate too much for our own good (I've never felt my stomach so hard!!!). Instead of cake, Brandon wanted Special K cookies. So thats what he got.

Now we're back to the day to day routine of school and work, not to mention the NBA playoffs.

It's official. Brandon and I are now the proud owners of bowling shoes. Thanks to the inspiration from Brad and Emily, we searched the internet and found the right pair of shoes for the both of us. Each year my family has a Christmas Bowl off where the winner gets the "trophy" bowling pin for the year. We feel this will give us an advantage as we have the next 8 months to practice in our shoes. We know Brad, Emily, and my mom have shoes of their own..... so may the best bowler win! And we plan to.

Thoughts

Today at my doctors appointment I saw a number on the scale that I never thought I would see. There it was, staring right at me. Depressing, really. Despite the normal, healthy process of your body changing in pregnancy, it's hard to adjust to the quick changes.

With that being said:

Recently Brandon has gotten into the habit of saying things like, "Wow, you look really big," or "Hey fatty." Then the other day my cute little Hispanic patient kept calling me "chubby." All of this is in good fun and I've laughed along, but remember that those comments will not be accepted in another 12 weeks. So get them in while you can.

Vegas Updates

Over the past month I've been down to Vegas three different times. Thank you to my parents who flew me down there twice.

The first trip was for my birthday. That particular weekend Brandon had a construction competition in Reno for school and I didn't want to sit home alone on my birthday. I flew down to Vegas and had a great time. It was a chill weekend where we went shopping, to the movies, out to lunch, etc. It did become a little stressful that weekend because poor little Jaxson broke his elbow!! After I left, he ended up having surgery (Sarah also had surgery that same week for appendicitis. Sad.). It was a great trip for my birthday!!

The Second trip was for Michelle's return from her mission! I still can't believe it has been a year and a half! Crazy. I flew down Wednesday and Mash came home Thursday! We had signs and balloons at the airport to greet her! It's been great to have her home but the whole weekend I had to convince her that it was not okay to put missionary skirts back on..... ever!

Finally, this last weekend Brandon and I drove down for Michelle's mission homecoming. It was great. Several of my cousins were able to come down as well. Conveniently, it was also the MWC tournament. All the boys went to the games on Friday and got to see BYU lose to UNLV. Brandon came home crying. Saturday we celebrated went shooting guns, celebrated Jaxson's birthday, went bowling, and watched Scott run in his track meet. Vegas was warm and beautiful. I'd actually never seen it so green! Sunday Michelle's had here homecoming talk which was great!

I don't know what I'm going to do with myself now that I don't have anymore Vegas trips planned! Its been a great month though! Here are a few pictures of the weekends. I didn't take too many and the ones I did were mostly of the little boys!

Well there really isn't any way to beat around the bush with this post, so for those who don't know yet (though I'm pretty sure only family reads this blog - and you all know already), Mel is pregnant.

We figured it was about time to put something on the blog about our fetus. Mel is 20 weeks along in her pregnancy and starting to show quite a bit.

We went to the doctor's today and were able to get an ultrasound to find out what it is. We were both kind of hoping it would be a boy, me more than Mel because I think she secretly dreamed of playing dress-up with a little girl, but we were really excited to find out that it's A BOY.

We love Vacations

I live for vacations. Both Brandon and I were anxious for the much anticipated Christmas vacation! Here are some of the highlights of our vacation. ( We didn't take as many pictures as we should have.):

* I had almost 22 days off work, with one day I worked in the middle. You have to love nursing for that. I only used 5 days PTO!!! Awesome!!!

*Going to Vegas, spending time with family, seeing Jaxson and Trent, early mini-Christmas dinner

* Trent finally warmed up to Brandon and now loves him (he used to be scared of him, I think mostly because of his height). They're best buds now

*Gingerbread houses (Scott you took too long!!!)

*Going shooting

*Bowling with the family in Vegas and in San Diego

*San Diego's warm weather and being able to wear flip flops again

*Brandon had Lasik done by his uncle, no more glasses!!

*Christmas one-piece PJs (Brandon's favorite present, Ha)

*Talking to all the missionaries: Michelle, Shane, and Tyler

*All the family together in San Diego

We couldn't be more blessed and had a great vacation. Now we're back to the Utah winter and awful air quality. Luckily Brandon is in his final semester. I couldn't be happier!

Today I was a sinner. That's right, I met Shane (aka Elder Goodsell) today at the temple. I was able to sit and talk to him for quite a bit which was really nice. After we finished visiting, I was waiting for Shane to come out of the dressing room in the front of the temple and I saw Elizabeth Smart. Kind of random. So I got a few pictures of Shane and his companion for all of my family to see. Shane never takes pictures, so this might be it for awhile.

Today I was lucky enough to have Brandon accompany me to the grocery store. Of course we walked out with things that I don't normally buy including a Marie Calendars Banana Cream Pie. We thought it would be our dessert tonight. Unfortunately the pie takes too long to thaw, it will have to wait until tomorrow. I had my hopes up for dessert tonight and was sadly disappointed. We sat on the couch and I complained that we didn't have anything to eat for dessert. I mentioned how I wished we had Oreos, it's a favorite of mine. Without being asked or even suggesting he go get some, Brandon put on his coat and walked out the door to get me Oreos. Am I lucky or what (not just because I'll be eating oreos)????

Mel wanted me to take a picture of our Christmas tree so her family could see what she did with it. I had forgotten how much cooler Fall is than Winter in Utah. All color goes away and all you're left with is ugly browns and cold wind. So we bring all the colors indoors and Mel goes hog wild with Christmas decorations.

Healthcare

Tonight I'm sitting home looking up the news on the internet, while Brandon is at school. I turned on 60 minutes and became frustrated beyond belief. This healthcare business is just plain ridiculous!! I would like to know who out there, real people, not Dirty Harry and Obama lovers, want this. Who truly wants this plan besides free-loaders???

So on 60 minutes some no-good Doctor was talking about how much end of life care is costing, especially in the ICU. They threw out these big $$$ amounts and the percentage of people who end up dying, instead of getting better in the ICU. Never once was mentioned all those people who survive and go on to live longer lives with their family. Well, this knuckle-head, who I'm sure is an Obama lover, goes into this 68 year old patient's room who is suffering from liver/kidney failure and says, if your heart stops would you like us to do CPR? Before letting him answers he tells him that it probably won't work considering the condition he's in and even if it does it might just send him back to the ICU to die a painful death. The patient's answer was: YES! When asked why the patient says the 2nd option was so good (meaning death).

Well he starts talking in the interview and says yes, "right now its the patients choice." Are you kidding me!! Right now? Shouldn't it always be. This Doctor went on to says we shouldn't have case by case judgements anymore about who can and can't get something. We need to make a rule that if your this age or in this condition you can't get "blank."

This is just absurd. Government healthcare will help this become a reality. They are going to say you can't have a pacemaker after 70 yrs old and you can't have chemotherapy after 65 yrs old. People think this is just some right-winged talking point to discredit the healthcare plan. No, no it's not. Does anyone find it interesting that the government and senators don't have to have the same healthcare it's people do?? Odd right?

I have so many thoughts about this healthcare business, but will leave it at that for now!

Cousin's Party 2009

About 2 weeks ago my whole family, excluding my dad (sad), came up to Idaho for our Annual Cousin's Halloween Party. We had a great time. One of the best things about my family is the close connection we have with all our cousins. We love it! My family decided we were going to dress up as characters from toy story, some followed through and others threw something together last minute! Here are a few pictures from the night.

School has kind of been a kick in the pants this semester, but we've managed to get out a couple of times when Mel wasn't working. One of those days we went hiking in the morning up Rock Canyon behind the Provo temple. The colors are changing and I knew Mel would want to see them so we checked it out. It was pretty sweet. That night we doubled with Ben and Wendy and went to Gardner Village near Salt Lake and carved pumpkins while we (mostly Ben and I) watched the BYU-UNLV game.

Gardner Village is a seasonal-type place that they deck out based on the next upcoming holiday. They have little Halloween sets everywhere and the shops are all Halloween theme right now. In a few months it'll be Christmas stuff and we'll no doubt go back for more.

A group of random ladies who were scuttling around the village dressed as witches. I wanted a picture with them, so I asked and they all proceeded to hand me their cameras. After taking the pictures OF them using their cameras, I asked again if I could take a picture WITH them. This time they understood and we got this little gem.

Today Shane entered the MTC. It was a different experience this time because they no longer allow family to come into the building, so we were able to just kick Shane out at the curb-side missionary drop-off. Here are some reasons we were glad for the change: 1.) Dad- "good we don't have to get dressed up only to leave and change again! 2.) Brandon- "good, we don't have to watch that stupid video" 3.) Mel- "good, maybe I won't cry."

It was sad to see Shane go, but we hope he has a great experience in El Salvador! Michelle is also out on her mission in Florida, so it feels like half of the family is gone.

This has been a stressful and busy week for Brandon and a not so stressful or busy week for me. I don't work until tomorrow and then have my 4 shifts in a row. This week I'd already cleaned the house, did laundry, paid the bills, watched some TV (loving the Biggest Loser, by the way), a little reading, grocery shopping, etc. So today I decided I wasn't going to sit in our apartment and do nothing. I took myself on a date!! I went to the movies to see Love Happens (okay movie, not my fav. though) and then got a manicure! Let me just say that I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, manicure, and company. Needless to say, I think we might go out again sometime soon! Who needs friends, right!

Rexburg

Mel and I went up to Rexburg this last weekend to see Tonya and Adam. We hadn't been up there since Mel graduated and I transfered a year 1/2 ago. Campus has changed so much I didn't recognize where I was sometimes, which was a very strange feeling.

We pretty much chilled all weekend which was really nice. Friday we ate Craigo's Pizza (I've been craving it since we left). Saturday we went shooting (below), watched football, visited the Sevy family, and had a game night with a lot of our friends from school. Sunday we went to church, ate Tonya's delicious roast, iChat-ed with the family, and drove home in time for school this morning.

It was a really fast weekend but really fun. We're talking about when we can do it again.

Another quick trip came and went this last weekend. We didn't take too many pictures, but here are a few. We went to the Del Mar Fair (SD County Fair now) and saw a few movies, but mostly just chilled with the family.

Wednesday, my parents and I went to the Las Vegas T.E.A. Party! (These are proof for Aunt Shelley that we were actually there). It was so funny. People had the best signs! People are passionate about "Changing" the way government is heading. Many people think that everyone who attended these TEA parties were a bunch of crazies, but that really wasn't the case. There was actually one speaker who was telling us that there isn't a law that you have to pay taxes and says he hasn't paid for 31 years. He basically was booed off the staged. My camera had a low battery so I only got a few pictures of signs, but here are some of what I remember.

- My favorite: AIG IS OUT OF MONEY. Then this guy walks around with a collection box and is asking for donations. He yells out "AIG no longer has money for their private jets and retreats." So funny!

Mega Vegas Post

All I can say is yeah nursing!! I was able to work my schedule out so I had 8 days off and missed no work! Thats right! So Brandon and I went to Vegas for Easter weekend and picked Shane up on the way. We had so much fun not being in Utah. The weather was pretty nice and we got to spend time with the family. Of course, Brandon got to hit up his favorite hots spots including In 'n Out and Lucille's. We also went to the driving range to hit some golf balls. I used to take golfing lessons when I was younger, I think I forgot it all! Jaxson LOVED it as Sarah literally had to drag him off the course! It was so funny. Luckily he got his own golf clubs for Easter. (see video below).

On Easter Sunday we had a BBQ outside with grilled chicken and ribs. It was so good. The weather was so nice that we were able to eat outside!! Then we had out annual Easter money hunt. My parents hid change and bills around the back and front yard. No, my dog Mac was not apart of the Easter Money Hunt this year, due to the removal of his growth (for those who are familiar with the story). I am glad to report that I found the $20 bill hidden on/in the lawn mower and Brandon and I walked away as the winners! Days after the money hunt Jaxson has been walking in the backyard saying ,"Money?" Here are some pictures:

Last weekend Brandon and I were supposed to go to Rexburg to see Tonya & Adam. Unfortunately, due to bad weather (go figure in Idaho), we had to come up with something to do here in Utah. Saturday we went bowling to practice, what I heard is going to be a family bowl off at Memorial Day. Lets just say, I destroyed Brandon.

We also went to the Hare Krishna Festival of Colors. I don't have a clue what it's all about, all I know is that Brandon got super dirty while I tried to stay clean. Apparently people just throw this powder stuff at each other. No thanks! Take a look at the pictures below.

I don't know how many of you watched the final episode of The Bachelor last night, but it was quite the shocker. I can't believe I allow myself get addicted to these stupid shows, especially with such an awful ending. Jason picked Melissa in the end and proposes to her. They kiss and jump in a pool with Jason's son Ty and seem to have this "fairy tale ending." Then in the "After the Final Rose," he dumps Melissa and then gets with Molly. Literally within 15 min of dumping Melissa (the love of his life) he starts kissing Molly. What the crap! Does anyone see something wrong with this? I was so upset. It has nothing to do with me or my life, but I found myself angry! What a punk! I know there is another After the Final Rose tonight, but I almost don't want to watch and waste my time. I think I am officially DONE with the Bachelor. Any thoughts?

A few places we visited while in San Diego this last weekend.

Mel and I spent most of the evenings down in San Diego at SeaPort Village, but we took a few pictures at La Jolla, which I may post later. These are all from the harbor. Bottom line, Utah is not the place to be if it isn't summer.

Brandon and I were able to make it down to Vegas for Christmas this year, luckily. I was scheduled to work Christmas Eve, so we didn't think we make it till late on Christmas Day. But I fortunately got off work at 12:30am Christmas morning and we started our drive to Vegas. The unfortunate part was that the roads were horrible. We got caught in a HUGE snow storm, which made our drive twice as long. Lets just say I was scared out of my mind! We made it to Vegas right when everyone was waking up so it worked out well! It was a great Christmas spending time with my family...... and away from snow and the cold of Utah. Here are some pictures of Christmas morning. Please excuse the morning hair.

Since Brandon got a gun for Christmas we all decided to go shooting so he could test it out. I think he really likes his new gun. But what I think he loves more is that he now owns his own gun and doesn't have to say "No, I don't have a gun, but my wife does." Ha Here are some pictures:

Has anybody else noticed how many Billy Mays infomercials have been on recently? I hate this guy, he just yells the whole time about worthless crap. I heard on ABC today that because the economy is struggling, the price of prime time TV advertising has decreased, so there are way more infomercials on as of the last couple of months. They said its like purchasing "beach front property at trailer park prices".

I'd rather have a beer.

Christmas Time

This past week has been a lot of fun. Tuesday I picked my mom up at the airport and we drove up to Preston, Idaho to spend a few days hanging out with my Grandma. We did a lot of Christmas shopping (which consisted of a great deal of looking and lusting after what I couldn't have and what my mom couldn't get on the plane with her!). I'm sure we completely wore my Grandma out. Friday my mom and I drove back to Utah and she helped me decorate my apartment for Christmas. She is absolutely amazing at decorating. I could've done it myself, but I really doubt it would look as good as it does. Brandon and I love it. Earlier today I found Brandon in the kitchen just staring up at our cabinets, smiling, and drinking eggnog. I'm glad he loves Christmas as much as I do.

I had such a fun time with my Mom but was sad to see her leave today. Now its just back to the normal day to day activities. Thanks Mom for much of the donations to decorating my Apartment! We love them!!!
